Glock 19 Gen6
The do-everything compact. Same 4.02-inch barrel and 7.28-inch length as the G19 has always had, now 40 grams lighter than the Gen 5 G19 at 570 grams (20.11 ounces) without a magazine. It's the one most carriers will want.
Glock 17 Gen6
The full-size duty gun: 4.49-inch barrel, 17 rounds, 600 grams (21.16 ounces) empty. Glock's longer Gen 6 sight radius is most noticeable here at 169 mm with polymer sights.
Glock 45 Gen6
The crossover: a G17-size frame with the G19-length slide and barrel. It holds 17 rounds and weighs 575 grams (20.28 ounces) without a magazine.
What's new in Gen 6
Glock's announcement and product pages list these changes:
- Ergonomic frame with a palm swell, an extended thumb rest and an enlarged beavertail.
- Gen6 grip texture that combines two textures over a larger surface area.
- Deeper-angled slide serrations for slide manipulation.
- Flat-faced trigger as standard, still with the Safe Action system.
- Undercut trigger guard and a shorter reach to the trigger. Glock lists a 68 mm trigger distance versus 70 mm on Gen 5.
- New optic-ready system. Standard-frame Gen6 pistols ship with three optic plates and let optics screw directly into the slide. Glock's MOS system isn't used on Gen 6.

Is there a Glock 26, 43X or 48 Gen 6?
Not in the U.S. yet. Glock's U.S. Gen6 lineup is the G17, G19 and G45. Guns.com reported at launch that a G49 Gen6 was available overseas and that more models are inbound, and Glock's European site lists a G49 Gen6. Glock US hasn't announced more Gen 6 models. When it does, they'll show up here with a Glock source.
What happened to Gen 5?
In October 2025, Glock published a list of discontinued commercial models spanning Gen 3, Gen 4 and some Gen 5 variants, and said it would keep servicing them. Distributors reported that current stock would stop shipping November 30, 2025, with a new "V" series following in December. Gen 6 arrived in January 2026. Gen 5 guns are still common in dealer stock and on the used market, which is why so many buyers are comparing the two.
